What Makes The Sistine Chapel So Famous?

Written by: Kate Zusmann

Where is The Sistine Chapel in Rome?

The Sistine Chapel is famous worldwide and is one of the gems of the Vatican.

It is highly significant and popular place with one of the most impressive and important frescoes in the world. Moreover, there are decorated walls by many significant Renaissance painters who were among the most notable and respected artists of late 15th century in Italy. Some of them are Perugino, Boticelli, and Ghirlandaio. Also, the Chapel was strengthened under Pope Julius II by the painting of the ceiling by Michelangelo between 1508 and 1512 and because of the same artist’s painting of the Last Judgment, commissioned by Pope Clement VII and completed in 1541.

To understand, you should visit the Chapel because no one stays indifferent after the visit to it. It is definitely worth it.
