best places where to eat italian pasta

What is a must-do when you come to Rome? First, of course, to try local food and especially Roman pasta! Many restaurants, tavernas, and osterias offer high-quality pasta plates, but let’s talk about the best places.

  • This list is based on my 9 years experience of living in Rome and endless love of local Italian pasta:

Contents

  • 1 Trattoria Da Teo
  • 2 Roma Sparita
  • 3 Nonna Betta
  • 4 Osteria da Fortunata
  • 5 Hosteria dei Numeri Primi
  • 6 Pasta Chef al 42
  • 7 Taberna dei Gracchi
  • 8 Taverna Antonina
  • 9 Impiccetta
  • 10 Pimms Good

Trattoria Da Teo

Trattoria Da Teo is one of the legendary places in Trastevere Neighborhood, and every local knows about this restaurant. This trattoria offers a variety from seafood to typical Roman dishes to meat, cheese, and salami goodness, allowing customers to find specialties that fully satisfy every taste preference. Meat, seafood, and tuna are cooked in many different ways and used to flavor delicious first courses made with fresh handmade pasta.

  • Address: Piazza dei Ponziani, 7A, 00153
  • Website: www.facebook.com/Trattoria.da.TEO
  • Tel.: (+39) 06 581 8355

Roma Sparita

Cacio Pepe Roma Sparita

Roma Sparita gives you a chance to have a unique Roman experience, where all dishes are local, the atmosphere is impressive, and you will meet primarily locals rather than tourists. It is mandatory to make a reservation at least 2 days in advance since there are always many guests in the restaurant. Roma Sparita is famous for its Cacio e Pepe pasta, one of the leading traditional Roman plates.

  • Address: Piazza di Santa Cecilia, 24
  • Website (you can make a reservation online): www.romasparita.com
  • Tel.: (+39) 06 580 0757

Nonna Betta

nonna betta jewish ghetto

Nonna Betta is a kosher-style restaurant with 2 separate menus. Respecting the Judaic Talmud rule that forbids mixing meat with dairy – a verse of the Torah says, “Do not cook a kid in its mother’s milk” – at Nonna Betta, dishes can be chosen from two separate menus: one featuring meat dishes, and one featuring fish or cheese. Moreover, even modern nutrition suggests not mixing meat, protein, and dairy.

The Jewish Ghetto is famous for its kosher dishes and typical Roman plates, especially artichokes (pasta with artichokes is also excellent). In this place, immersed in a relaxed and welcoming setting, you can relive the stories of the Ghetto and perhaps find answers to questions you “never dared to ask” regarding the Jewish culture, religion, or the 2000-year-old presence of Jews in Rome.

  • Address: Via del Portico d’Ottavia, 16
  • Website: www.nonnabetta.it
  • Tel.: (+39) 06 68 80 62 63

Osteria da Fortunata

Osteria da Fortunata

Osteria da Fortunata is one of the most popular places in Rome, where locals and tourists prefer to eat pasta. Don’t be surprised if many people will suggest you this osteria for lunch or dinner. It is better to make a reservation in advance since there are always many guests.

  • Address: Via del Pellegrino, 11/12
  • Tel.: (+39) 06 6066 7391

Hosteria dei Numeri Primi

The Hosteria dei Numeri Primi is the project of chef Stefano Dominici. He, after making himself known and having accumulated twenty years of experience in the field of creative cuisine with the restaurant “Ai Fienaroli,” decided to return to his origins with a new project. The Hosteria reflects the style of modern Trastevere with a refined and minimalist, trendy atmosphere linked to the cornerstones of the style that has always characterized the Trastevere charm. Besides typical Roman pasta dishes, you will find more creative and modern recipes of pasta that are so delicious!

Pasta Chef al 42

Pasta Chef al 42'

Pasta Chef al 42 is a street food place, but what quality and taste! So if you have a break between tours/museums/Roman points of interest discovering, stop by this cozy place to try local Italian pasta. The variety of pasta plates, prices, and size of portions surprises me a lot!

  • Address: Via dei Funari 21 and Via Baccina 42
  • Website: www.pastachef.com
  • Tel.: (+39) 06 4883198

Taberna dei Gracchi

Taberna dei Gracchi

Taberna dei Gracchi offers an exceptional selection of Italian pasta and mains. Moreover, there is a good service and a cozy atmosphere. Therefore, it is better to book a table in advance. Furthermore, I recommend trying their starters that perfectly complement pasta and wine!

  • Website: www.tabernadegracchi.com
  • Tel.: (+39) 06 3213126

Taverna Antonina

Taverna Antonina

Taverna Antonina offers cuisine based on fresh seafood with daily arrivals and Danish meat. There are also many traditional Roman dishes. In addition, I recommend this place for an excellent selection of wines, homemade desserts, and fantastic service! You should try homemade Tagliatelle with duck breast ragout.
and blueberry marmelade.

  • Address: Via della Colonna Antonina, 48
  • Website: www.tavernaantonina.it
  • Tel.: (+39) 06 678 37 17

Impiccetta

Impiccetta

No one will stay hungry in Impiccetta! You can choose from small, medium, and large size of portions. For you to understand, the “small” portion is already huge! The quality of food, taste, atmosphere, and prices are all excellent. However, make sure to make a reservation as much in advance as possible. From my experience, I love their lasagna and tiramisu.

  • Address: Via dei Fienaroli, 7
  • Website: www.facebook.com/Impiccetta
  • Tel.: (+39) 06 4201 3406

Pimms Good

pimms good

Pimm’s Good is always on my list of places to eat the most delicious pasta. It has a fantastic location right in the heart of Trastevere district. Moreover, it is famous for its high-quality cocktails and aperitivo. I’d say this is where all dishes are tasty, so don’t be afraid to make a wrong choice, you will like the food, I promise. Considering pasta, I recommend you to try Carbonara or Spaghetti all amatriciana. I only go to Pimm’s for lunch or dinner when I have free time. Also, try their cheesecake and tiramisu! Making a reservation in advance is not mandatory.

  • Address: Via di Santa Dorotea, 8/9
